I am ordering pizza for dinner shortly.

I am also looking at the green Ingress fields nearby that I could hit on the way to pick up the pizza. I only need 46K AP to make level 11. I could just about do that...

For the gathering of AP, there's nothing quite like hitting a big city. Only trouble is Ingress seems to struggle when there are 50+ portals in the scanner field...

Agreed on the AP. I have not seen that problem in NYC. I did have a challenge getting black guardian near NYC.

London (near Charing Cross) holds my "shortest time a portal held" record, at something under 30 seconds...

I had some similar very short times @ Grand Central Station (Manhattan) one evening when I was working on reaching level 10. I think I had them for maybe 15 seconds before he took them out again and I managed to recapture.

As for device/cell - Verizon and on an iPhone 5s via hotspot from another phone.

What surprised me was that my opponent didn't get things recharging more quickly than I could take them out...

...but I did break a satisfying number of links when it went down. :)

Interesting... I don't have the problem with Ingress struggling w/ large numbers of portals in range, and I routinely play in a 100-portal densely packed farm.

Which network and which platform? (AT&T and iPhone for me)

Android on a Nexus 5 in London. I'm guessing at the portal density, to be honest, not having taken the time to sweep around and count all the ones in range. It can take a couple of minutes to gather all the information after getting a first fix, and if you are foolish enough to fire an XMP burster then the feedback from all the damaged resos can take a while. May well be network lag rather than number-crunching time, though...
