Closed Again, We Are Closed Again
Feb. 18th, 2015 06:33 pmEarlier in the afternoon, they sent out a message that before-school activities were canceled. A moment ago, they closed the schools.
Chicago Public Schools are closed too.
This is our fifth day of cancelled classes so far this year. One was for snow, four were for severe wind chills.
When I was a boy...
(I lived on Guam. We didn't have snow days. Typhoon days, yes. Week-long power outages, yes.)
(Of course, I also lived in southern Illinois for years, and we never canceled school that I recall. I think U of I shut down once when I was there due to absolutely impassable road conditions.)
I wonder when they will be having the science fair now, because it won't be tomorrow as was scheduled.

Date: 2015-02-19 02:45 pm (UTC)When they closed Tech, it was a much bigger deal, the consequences of which I now appreciate more than I did as a student. I think they did that maybe two times while I was there. I believe it was because the county had pulled the plows.
I'm sick of winter.
