Recap

I have been reading the Katie Kazoo books to Katie and Julie, one chapter per night. This causes Katie a great deal of distress when we get to the recap chapter that occurs in each book for the benefit of readers who haven't read earlier books in the series. She gets a chapter, but no new story to speak of.

Of course, you can't just skip the recap...

Can you read an additional chapter of new, when the recap one comes up in rotation?

I could. Some times, I do. It depends on how long it has taken to get the girls into their beds. :)
