Despite a scare, the Cards beat the Padres in Game 1 of the NLDS today. Interestingly, one of the Microsofties at today's lab is from St. Louis. His father is working on the sprinkler system for the new Busch Stadium and is promising that he's going to retire just as soon as he finishes.
(Having an Internet connection meant I could keep an eye on the score as the game progressed. The White Sox also won. So far, so good.)

Date: 2005-10-05 02:25 am (UTC)As you've probably heard, Chas is not doing too well. He's been told by the doctor to NOT sing at all. We think he's on the mend (now that he's not singing) but there hasn't been any great improvement in his voice so we've decided that Riverfolk won't be able to perform at OVFF this year. DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!! WEll I was thinking.....if I could put a few folks together who could play the part of Chas..... during our concert spot..... then maybe "Riverfolk" could still do a show. So, I was wondering if you might be at all interested in singing Chas' part on Teenage Popsicle Girl? We'd need to practice through it once or twice for me to get up to speed on your style of the song and for you to be OK with me doo wopping and kazooing behind you. What do you say?

Date: 2005-10-06 03:39 am (UTC)I'd be happy to cover on Teenage Popsicle Girl. (If you need someone to cover on "Passing Through Tulsa" -- is that the right title? -- I could probably do that given a set of lyrics and a check on the CD.)
