We had planned to take the girls to roller skating class down in Lombard today, but things did not go according to plan. We were running a little late when we looked out the back door and discovered that Julie had left her coat, gloves, and boots scattered across the path home from the neighbors' house yesterday on her way back to our place. By the time we recovered everything on the icy snow, we were extremely late. Then we got to the place where we'd intended to get breakfast and couldn't find a place to park, so we ended up driving across town to an alternate choice. When we finally got food there (not that they were slow -- everything had been slow), it was five minutes before we would absolutely have to be on the road to get to the roller rink on time.

So we gave up.

Katie and Julie spent the afternoon playing with the neighbor girls.

I (with a bit of help from [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise) spent the afternoon emptying, ripping apart, spackling, and painting the closet in the library so that we can install the nice Elfa hardware that Jeff and Carol gifted us with for Christmas 2012 and which we finally got organized enough to pick up in late December of 2013.

If anything goes according to plan tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] samwinolj will come over tomorrow and help me install the big cross piece for the Elfa system and remount the basement banister that came off the wall about a month ago.

Fingers crossed! :)
