Let's Go B-O-W-L-I-N-G

Katie and Julie were each invited to a birthday party this afternoon, so daisy_knotwise took Katie to her party while I took Julie to the party held at a nearby bowling alley. Once Julie was settled in, I checked with our hostess and wandered off to the desk where I rented a lane next to the party so that I could be available, but actually get some bowling in.

Now this was an event for a couple of reasons. I had not actually been bowling since before Katie was born, so I was way out of practice. And since my last trip to a bowling alley, I had blown out my left knee and had two ligaments replaced. Thus, I was wondering if I would be able to bowl at all.

Happily, my bowling shoes still fit my feet and my bowling ball still fit my hand. :) They were renting lanes by the hour, so I bought an hour and proceeded to break 160 in the first game and 150 in the second, which was in line with experience. By the third game, I was flagging, because bowling by yourself is fairly hard work, so I didn't score as well.

But I bowled five games in an hour, converting myself into a sodden mess. :)

Julie had a wonderful time at the bowling party.

Katie is intensely jealous and wants to go bowling tomorrow.

This will not be happening, because my right arm is going to be really sore in the morning.

I'm really bad at bowling unless one covers up the gutters. I've managed to bowl an 18. ANd I was trying really hard to do well. It's embarrassing. *grins*

I think the best I've ever done was somewhere around 60.

Now, here's a bowling puzzle for you: During one game, on 12 consecutive rolls, a bowler knocked down all 10 pins. His final score was 290. Explain.
