Nate and Louie called tonight and I spent some time talking to them. They said they would really like to hear from their friends, so I'm passing that information along.

From a distance - and I've met Nate once, and Louie never, just to put it in context - the LJ noise over recent months convinced me that it was safer for my mental wellbeing to stay well clear.

I suspect a number of people may have found it likewise impossible to offer friendship in any meaningful way without a clear line of communication and given some of the aggressive and entirely uncalled-for tirades that certain friendly enquiries drew. I saw people I know and care for dreadfully abused on that LJ-thread, and I won't be the only person to have withdrawn in disgust. Not at Nate, I would add.

I liked Nate, and I wish him well.

I agree with Talis. I know them both well and have distanced myself from all the ranting in order to not be caught in the cross fire. I wish them both all the best and hope they get back together.
