Well, that was interesting.
I had just moved one load to the dryer and put the third load in the washer. Then I headed upstairs to hang my shirts. While I was hanging my shirts, the thunderstorm hit and the power went out for a few seconds, but happily came back on. It was just out long enough to need to restart computers and reset clocks. I didn't worry about it and took care of other things upstairs before finally coming back down to get to it.
When I mentioned that I needed to swap the laundry, Julie volunteered to do it, which was very nice of her. And then she checked the dryer and discovered that the clothes there were still quite wet. Oh, and the washer was full of water.
Guess which appliances I didn't think of when the power outage hit?
Gretchen thinks this is the first time we've had a power outage while running the washer and dryer. She may well be correct. In any case, I came down to help Julie get things restarted.
As long as I was down here, I enlisted Julie's help to run the latest new DisplayPort cable from the computer to the DisplayPort splitter on the other end of the console. Things are now plugged in and running. We will find out eventually whether the new cable has cured the blinking problem.
In the meantime, I should probably go up and help Gretchen with dinner.
