Time Traveling
Jul. 27th, 2024 11:17 pmSo we headed out to the Bristol Renaissance Faire today. We got out a little later than I had hoped for, but not later than I had expected. As we headed north, we got a warning from the Romans that traffic was horribly backed up on Russell Road heading for the site, so I decided to head up one exit north to Pleasant Prairie and backtrack. I saw that there was a lot of traffic backed up on the southbound frontage road to the west of the Interstate. I also saw an overpass for a county road crossing the Interstate.
Well, let's see how this works. And it turned out that you could take the frontage road on the east side of the Interstate back to the county road, cross the Interstate to the west side, and pop out just south of the parking entrance. This got us in pretty briskly, so the warning was quite useful.
The kids had a fine time at the Faire. I decided that the better part of valor was to move from show to show, which I did, catching Dan the Bard, Dungeons and Shakespeare, and the Playwrecked improvised musical. I actually went to the Dungeons and Shakespeare show twice, convincing the kids that they should come see the second one. And, as it happened, K was selected from the audience, drew a Shakespeare character from the bag, and ended up playing Ophelia along with the Three Witches from the Scottish play. It was a stitch.
I was also recruited for a bit of jewelry shopping and bought something for each of my kids that they liked, neither piece being overly expensive. And this was just fine.
But everyone seemed to have a good time.
We are now home and fed on carry-out Chinese and the cheesecake from yesterday. The cheesecake came out just fine, although cutting it was a bit of an adventure. But it wasn't *my* adventure, so that's also just fine.
I am going to close up this post and head upstairs and continue rehydrating. :)
Tomorrow, we need to return Midkiffs to their parents, so waking up in the morning is a good choice.
