Mother's Day
May. 12th, 2024 09:55 pmWe had a relaxed Mother's Day. Gretchen's foot has been bothering her, so she asked me to go out to lunch without her and bring her back a taco salad from Tacos Jerez. After that, I went to Mariano's and picked up steaks, baking potatoes, sweet corn, and a loaf of nine-grain bread for dinner.
Some cleaning was accomplished during the afternoon with the help of the kids, so the kitchen table was cleaned off so we could have dinner there. I spent some time cleaning off the top of the stove, because it was time. :)
At various points during the afternoon, I read another 15 comics (which barely makes a dent in the ginormous stack in the hallway, but the journey of 1000 comics and all that...), and spent time throwing things for Ruby to fetch. This made Ruby *very* happy, because she has been desperate for someone to go out and play with her, but the weather has been just uncooperative enough to make that difficult.
Later, steaks were grilled (and gristle and fat trimmed for Ruby), potatoes baked, sweet corn microwaved, and bread heated up to make a lovely dinner with a minimum amount of required prep and cleanup.
And now, it is nearly time to go to bed, because the kids have school tomorrow, while I have my scheduled lithotripsy early in the afternoon. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well with that.
I hope you all had a good day!
