Sing Along With Bill and Gretchen
Dec. 10th, 2022 10:51 pmToday's concert for the Festival of the Living Rooms went well. We had managed to get our living room cleaned up, so I had a coffee table and couch available for the occasion. The gear, on the other hand, had never been lashed up in quite this way and when I tried a test recording my own Zoom session there was no sound. This was disconcerting, because everything indicated that there *should* be sound being recorded.
The particular lashup in use was the new recording laptop, with a Focusrite Solo interface connected to it along with the HD webcam from my office setup (selected as being both higher resolution and easier to aim than the laptop camera). I set a single ambiance microphone, which was the nice condenser mic that Dave Ifversen built for us. In theory, this should be pretty reasonable.
In practice, I guess it worked, although the failure of the tests was really disconcerting.
The set list was:
My Husband, the Filker
Library Song
Too Many Years
Brain Sludge
The Old Centauri Run
New Frontier
Cruising
Stuck On You
Laundry Day
Make a Joyful Noise
Crystal Dance
Apology
I had figured 12 songs would be right (although I had an extra in my hip pocket in case I'd underestimated) and we came out exactly at an hour. :)
We had a good time and folks seemed to enjoy it.
Thanks to Lem for having us!
