Operation: Fix It continues.
Gretchen found a contractor who took a look at the gutters and roof where we have the leak in torrential rains. He agreed with my theory that the gutters back there weren't big enough to handle a bad downpour, especially if they were anything less than squeaky clean. So in the next couple of weeks, we should get larger replacement gutters on the back side of the house that we *think* will solve the problem.
The big light bulb in the living room chandelier burned out some time ago. I've been looking for some suitably decorative bulb to replace it with and have been failing dismally. Finally, I found some Edison-style LED bulbs that were 100 watt equivalents on Amazon. I decided to get the ones that were 4000K color equivalent, because the 2700K bulbs are way too yellow for my taste, while the 5000K color bulbs make me feel like I'm caught in a nuclear explosion. I had to buy way too many of these bulbs -- a half-dozen -- to be able to get them at a reasonable price. When they arrived, I set up the nine foot ladder and put the new bulb in. I like it a lot. It is actually white. Julie does *not* like it and thinks it is much too bright.
I still have to replace one of the candelabra bulbs, but I bought the wrong base size initially and had to exchange it. The new bulbs appear to have arrives, so maybe I'll get to that tomorrow.
Meanwhile, since the Edison bulbs were not popular in the chandelier and I had a lot of them, I used one of them in the Tiffany fixture in the upstairs hallway that had blown a bulb. It looks really nice in there and picks out the color much better than the second 2700K bulb in the fixture. So I guess I know what to use the rest of these bulbs for...
The replacement cable box from Comcast arrived on Wednesday. Sadly, it required a technical support call to get it activated, but there was no hold time for that call, so it wasn't so bad. As I'd requested, it was a newer box that would support a 4K TV. I am discovering that on a 55 inch set, the difference between HD and 4K is mostly imperceptible to me, but it's fun to play around with.
The good news while the cable box was down is that the upstairs TV is smart enough to stream Amazon Prime, so we could keep on watching episodes of "The Mentalist" before going to bed.
I have acquired two more Amazon Echos (the sale having finally occurred), so we can now place one pretty much anywhere that we want one. One of the new ones is in my office; I still need to set up the one in our bedroom.
Saturday, our APBA baseball league will be holding our socially-distanced draft in our backyard. More cleaning needs to be done before they show up. That will be tomorrow's project. :)
