I Hate It When a Plan Collapses Horribly

It turns out that one of the fixes that I put in last week that sped things up a lot only did so because it generated a bunch of bogus data that caused the view to have many fewer lines than it should have had. I have now put in a better version of the fix that generates (I believe) correct data. Things are faster than they were when I started working on this mess, because I've made a lot of improvements, but they are now much slower than they were with the bogus version of the data.
