Technical Difficulties
Jan. 7th, 2013 10:03 pmKatie wanted to record some audio for school. Normally, I'd use the studio and multi-track the project there, but I despaired of getting Katie to sing in synchronization with tracks she was listening to through the headphones. And then I realized that this was a perfect application for the field recording gear -- the gear that I need to get sorted out before Capricon, because it thwarted Dave completely at Windycon.
The first thing I found was that the laptop battery said "0%, plugged in, not charging". Ok, that's bad. Entertainment followed as I kept trying various incantations that I found on the Internet to fix the problem. I finally upgraded the laptop BIOS and reinstalled the battery. That got the battery to charge, although it's unclear if the problem has actually been solved or just punted down the road.
Cubase is not seeing all of the ports that the mixer is presenting. In a fit of updating, I'm pulling all of the new drivers for the mixer and loading them up.
We'll see if that helps.
*sigh*
