That's Less Annoying
Dec. 29th, 2012 05:22 pmI unburied the Windows 7 laptop that I have for work and hardwired it into the VPN, since I have two ports available and only one other machine that I use frequently for work. It came up properly on the network, so I just have to check later and make sure that the machine that I plugged into the untrusted port is the one that I intended to. :)
I spent a good bit of time (and a small amount of money) getting a pair of display port to VGA adapters for the laptop so that I could put it in the docking station and run it with dual monitors through my KVM switch. After a bit of configuration fun, I managed to get that to work.
Now the interesting thing is that -- supposedly! -- if I use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a VM where I'm working, I should be able to have dual monitors on the remote machine, which would make it much more usable. So I figured I'd try it.
And I got two black screens the first three times that I connected.
On the fourth time, it worked.
I have no idea why. :)
