The new mixer came yesterday. I got a chance to play with it today, and it looks to be very nice, although it will take a while to learn how to use it well.

Unfortunately, the disks with the software were missing. Given that many of the settings on the mixer weren't at factory defaults, it looks like this mixer has been sold before and returned. I probably wouldn't have noticed if the disks were there.

But I have. So it's going back for a replacement because of the missing parts. And we'll see what shows up next time.

*sigh*

:-(

It's a pity they can't just send you a new set of disks; surely it would be less trouble for them as well as you.

I hope your replacement comes soon.

Except for the fact that they sold a used mixer as new, with a price consistent with new. (I've got nothing against buying used equipment - it's the only way I can afford some of the stuff I've bought :-) - but I expect a significant discount if I'm buying secondhand stuff.) I would also wonder why a relatively new mixer was returned - what did the previous owner do to it?

Reselling returned equipment as new is standard practice; if they couldn't do that, sellers could hardly give you a full refund. But it's their obligation to make it indistinguishable from new.

I can tell I'm not firing on all cylinders this morning: I hit your second paragraph and realized you weren't talking about a Kitchenaid...

That was my first thought, too. Now I've got this visual of a software-controlled kitchen mixer.
