If you've stopped watching for Tropical Update on the Weather Channel, you may not have noticed that we are up to Tropical Storm Gamma.

This post on Weather Underground discusses both TS Gamma and something that daisy_knotwise and I have been batting around: Have we really seen a record number of tropical storms this year or are we just getting better at finding them? The answer turns out to be "Maybe".
