Movus Interruptus
Nov. 17th, 2005 05:44 pmSo as a result of our latest reorganization of office space, I'm being moved around the corner into a smaller office. All things considered, this is better than going to Lisle. And it looks like the only piece of furniture I'll lose is the conference table, which was usually under a pile of magazines anyway.
I was told to get things cleaned up by the end of Friday so that the movers could come in over the weekend and move my desk. Normally, I could just grab another desk, but I have the only desk in the office with a return, having asked for one specifically some 20 years ago when we first moved into offices and out of our houses. I figured the simplest thing to do was to manhandle my bookcases over there by myself (with a bit of help from Doug), since that way I could load them up with the books one shelf at a time and not have to box and reorganize everything. So the bookcases and books have already moved.
And now I'm told that the movers apparently won't come move my desk this weekend, because the Facilities folks at Corporate don't want to have someone come in to move furniture more than once. *sigh*
I hope my books enjoy the new office.
In the meantime, I've been reducing the pile of unread magazines and trashing them, pretty much skimming through the older ones. On the other hand, there appears to be a lot of buzz just recently for something called Ajax. I must learn more...
