We're having some flooding in Des Plaines (fortunately not on our side of town) as the Des Plaines River crests after recent rains. My usual route to work is flooded out, so I had to take an alternate route which also passes near the river. One of the businesses there, Studio One Photography, had a sign on the side of the building that read "Coming Soon, Studio One Waterpark".

I think they're far enough away from the river not to be in trouble...

Well, it looks like the Unicode conversion has been back-burnered for the moment so we can take care of more pressing matters.

In the meantime, is there anyone out there who has worked with the old Formula One spreadsheet OCX from Actuate? We're trying to figure out what support it has for MBCS and Unicode, but since the company abandoned the product (after signing us to an expensive license with the prospect of upgrades; then charged us more for a terminal source code license to the non-upgraded, non-supported product when they exited the market), we're having to work this out ourselves.

The real shame about it is that this mass of unsupported source code is still the best spreadsheet control on the market. Sad, isn't it?

I'm flattered to see a copy of this tape with a current bid of $48 on eBay. Cool!

Uriel. You're most like the ArchAngel of
Transformation. You like teaching, and
bringing the joy of learning new stuff to
others. You have limited patience for stupid
people despite having an amazing amount of
patience otherwise.

Which ArchAngel are you most like?
brought to you by Quizilla

And somehow apropos, given the joys of this abortive Unicode conversion...

I couldn't sleep again on Tuesday night, so I crawled into the library and pulled out Frankenbass and finished a song that I started on the way down to the Solutions conference in April.
