So here is a picture from the last time that Badi went missing -- for a solid week that time. Katie asked tonight if [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise could make her another Badi.

The problem is that Gretchen is pretty good at crochet, but has no clue how the particular stitch in this blanket is done. Does it look familiar to anyone out there?

I can produce a higher resolution version of this photo -- and potentially a close up on the stitching -- if it's helpful.

Thanks!

Badi Found Badi Found Badi had been missing for nearly a week, since Katie lost him and the contents of her backpack on a trip to the optometrist. When I picked up the new contacts today, I checked one last time at the parking garage. And we all got lucky.

Glad to hear that it was found.

I think it was found last time it went missing. If I understand correctly, this time it is still missing... Search parties have gone out and returned empty handed.

I have a fairly exhaustive book on crochet stitches - if you can get me a close-up I'll see if I can match it up.

Do you think you could get away with an entirely different style and calling it Badi's little brother? (or sister)

Such a thing might work better

if Katie gets to go to the yarn store & find her favorite color/colors. (Kids are suckers for rainbow yarn)

Higher resolution & a close-up WOULD be helpful

From what I could see there, it is SOME kind of shell stitch (which is a very broad category. Shells are essentially a number of stitches in one loop, skip a bunch of loops & then do the same. Often it is 5 dc, skip 5 (chain on 1st row) stitches & 5 more dc. Subsequent rows do 5 dc into the 3rd (middle) stitch of each shell. There needs to be a connection on the end which is either 3 dc (to start) or one last dc in the last dc of a shell. A border may be involved to make the whole thing more stable. This could be done at the same time or around the edges after the whole blanket is done.

From the scale it could be treble crochet as well.

It looks familiar and i will look when I get home. I also have a couple of crocheted throws which I could send you pictures (when i get home) and she could pick if she likes one. It wont be the same as one she's snuggled with since babyhood tho. Sorry for her loss, tho still hoping it gets found.

I'll add my voice into the "give us higher res. and I'll bet I can guess..." pot.

It looks like it's a stitch called crazy stitch. I found it to be a very easy stitch to do.

Here's a link to one tutorial I found: http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa040701.htm
