The good news for this Friday the 13th was that the "Check Engine" light on my car threw a code that is usually a transient glitch and that didn't require anything to be done. As a bonus, I got the oil changed. :)

Work, on the other hand, is being challenging. Our QE people are specializing in errors that only they can reproduce today. Some of them are errors that we know of that aren't being addressed in this fix.

My brain hurts.

Wrote a program once and one of our testers just punched random buttons until it locked up. Never -did- find out what she did.

When I worked for one of Sony's mobile phone incarnations, we had a customer in Canada who hired a bunch of summer interns to try to break the phone. We had some very interesting trouble reports out of that exercise.

An oil change before a long drive is good.

My car has had a check engine light on for some time. It went off for about a day - the day I brought it in for service.

Their theory: either a sticky thermostat or a loose connection coming into the dashboard. One of these days I'll spring for the money to get them fixed (or maybe just replace the car if I can get a decent offer with the check engine light on)
