And while I had Katie and Julie occupied outside, daisy_knotwise counted the Capricon proceeds and prepared a deposit. We were a bit handicapped by the broken charge machine, but sales were pretty ugly, especially given how well the filk program went.

On the other hand, my calibration was good as my initial guess was only about fifteen dollars below the high end of the range I'd given. Guesstimating sales has gotten more difficult as we get more CDs that aren't in traditional jewel cases, but I still seem to be a pretty fair guesser.

Do you think more people are downloading directly onto their iPods and the like from the artist websites?

I guess I'm old fashioned in that I prefer the physical CD to files on an electronic device that can go away.

It's hard to say. I think it's more a matter of a lousy economy.
