Once More With Feeling

Ok, after listening to yesterday's truck test, I've tried to fix up five tracks, mostly for level correction and reverb fixup. I'm really hoping this all balances this time.

I'm thinking RAM for dinner, probably a Tuscan Meatloaf sandwich, maybe a burger. There's a special on burgers tonight. And they're half an hour away...

Is this album more trouble than most, or do you spend six months on all of them?

Partly it's due to the fact that real life has gotten in the way of the process, but partly it's due to the variety of source material that I'm working with. Tracks on this CD came from:

1) Live recordings at multiple conventions and a party in my living room, all with varying acoustics and recorded on 4-track cassette
2) Simultaneous recording of vocal and guitar to 4-track cassette in a bedroom in my old house
3) Live recordings at Marcon to an ADAT digital tape
4) Simultaneous recording of vocal and guitar to an ADAT digital tape in a bedroom in my new house

A few of the tracks have some acoustic similarities to each other, but with all too great a frequency, each one is a new learning experience. Most of the last two weeks of work has been on trying to balance levels, compression, and reverb so that the tracks are pleasing individually and together in a noisy environment.

If folks were going to play this only on a decent stereo, I'd have been done months ago. :)

I know, it's terrible.

Actually, what's really sad is that it's a very nice brewpub and I can't stand beer. On the other hand, daisy_knotwise had their seasonal Mai Bock which she enjoyed quite a bit.
