Boot to the Head
Jul. 16th, 2007 10:53 pmSo I came down and turned on the digital mixer and it refused to boot up. Ack! I switched on the monitor and discovered that the computer that controls the mixer had lost its BIOS settings, probably due to a dead battery.
Fortunately, I had the correct settings for the BIOS printed out and sitting on the console, so I was able to get things back up and running in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, this means I'm going to have to wrestle the computer out of its rackmount, remove a trillion tiny little screws, change the battery, and reverse the whole process. This will kill a bit more than an hour sometime and will -- with any luck! -- not accidentally knock any other cables loose.
Once the mixer booted, we (me,
daisy_knotwise and Katie) recorded scratch tracks for four of the songs on
blueeyedtigress's album, coincidentally (not!) for the four songs that will have an instrumental break in the final version.
So far, so good.
