The latest round of remix on Tom Smith and His Digital Acoustic Compilation is in the CD burner now. This means we need to go somewhere that's about half an hour away for dinner so we can listen to it in the car. I must commence negotiations with daisy_knotwise...

I keep forgetting to ask. Why? The original sounded fine to my tin ear.

The original master was lost at the duplicating house. When I ripped a copy of the CD to make a new master, I noticed some level matching problems that bothered me. Given that the mixing gear that I have is a lot better than what I had when I put together the original mix for DAC, I decided to try giving it a remix to see if it was an improvement.

Mostly, it seems to be. However, there are a few tracks which are still being problem children.

Oh, I know. But at least we didn't drive out to Culver's in Schaumburg for custard (which was our old CD test drive track).

You see, they opened a Culver's about two miles from here...

...thus allowing you to give each track individual attention and a fair hearing, unbiased by whichever stretch of road you might be on as each track comes up! Sounds like Culver's made a major contribution to scientific accuracy, there... =;o}
