No Pull-Ups Day Is Coming!

I informed Katie early this month that September 1st she would no longer wear Pull-Ups except to bed. We've tried numerous other methods to encourage potty training to take and none has worked, so we're now going to try cold turkey.

Upon my return from Context, I started enthusing about the upcoming "No Pull-Ups Day".

Katie is less than impressed. In fact, Katie does not like this very much at all. Her latest attempt at bargaining is "Can I wear Pull-Ups if I have diarrhea?"

I've suggested staying close to a toilet. :)

We'll see how this goes.

Good luck to you. If she has playdate friends it might help to point out that they don't wear them. Likewise any slightly older kids she admires.

Vicky was hard to get out of pull ups as well. I arranged that one evening we were out. I told her we couldn't get anymore right now. She wasn't happy, but after that she was fine. That's a little harder to pull off during the day. She was day time dry by then due to Jr Kindergarten, it was a great motivator.

Bribery worked for us, The kids in Liam's daycare were all taken to the bathroom together when one of them had to go, and "cool" & "stylish" underwear was greatly admired & coveted

Sorry-- posted too soon. Spiderman briefs were Liam's bribe of choice. Which "fancy big-girl panties" might appeal to Katie? Is there a slightly older role model/friend who wears "Hannah Montana" panties, or some such attire?

Bribes here, too. My Kate wanted Strawberry Shortcake, the boys were good with Pokemon. "You can't pee in those fancy pants!" Kate's tell her Jackie (who has fancy Dora panties) that she'll make Dora cry. It's working pretty well to this point... seeing as she's starting Headstart in a couple of weeks, that's also a motivator.
