Julie has learned a new trick. She stands up on the end table next to my chair, smiles at me, and falls in my direction. I catch her under both arms. She smiles and giggles, climbs out of my lap, back onto the end table, and does it again.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

I've tried to explain to her that there is the possibility that I might not be paying sufficient attention to what she's doing and could fail to catch her. She finds this argument unpersuasive. *sigh*

My thumbs could stand to avoid the strain.

Perhaps it's time to work on the "when you want to play a game with someone, *both* people must agree before you start"? part of social interaction? I'm not sure when kids become capable of learning that--it may depend on a theory of mind she doesn't have yet...

Wow - she's found a way to play "jump in the pool so Daddy can catch me" without benefit of pool. I give her points for creativity, and you sympathy for your overworked thumbs.
