Playoff Thoughts

So I was trying to decide who to root for in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

I concluded that I should root for the Brewers, because I have friends in Milwaukee who care about baseball. (I have relatives in Phoenix, but they don't really care about baseball.)

I have relatives in DFW, so I should root for the Rangers.

The Twins have been pitiful in the playoffs for a long time, so I should root for them.

And the new manager of the Marlins is former Cardinal Skip Schumaker of Rally Squirrel fame, so I should root for the Marlins.

So far today, it's looking like I'm batting .500.

All I can say at the moment is that it was a good day yesterday to be a bar or restaurant owner in downtown Baltimore. Game 1 at Camden Yards in the afternoon, Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks next door at M&T Bank Stadium in the evening.

45K baseball fans + 70K music fans = lots of food and beer purchased around the Inner Harbor.

Not a bad day either if you happened to own a patch of concrete or asphalt you could convince people to pay you a few bucks to park on...
