Home Again
Jun. 4th, 2006 10:58 pmI spent the weekend recording tracks for Falling Toward Orion at
min0taur and Sally's down in Indy. We had a lot of fun putting things together.
tollers dropped by for dinner on Saturday night and I gave her a briefing on the gear, as the local resident techie. :)
We didn't get everything done -- which wasn't a surprise -- and were discussing having Barry come up to record the remaining tracks when either Sally or Debbie (it was late, and memory is fleeting) noted that he could just record them on the gear I was leaving there for them to use, if I were simply clever enough to duplicate the tapes when I got home. *duh* Well, yes, that would be a clever idea, wouldn't it? :)
I left around 5 PM and got home in the middle of
daisy_knotwise's Capricon meeting. Shortly, I should stop reading e-mail and LJ and start unpacking.
Tomorrow, I'll play the tracks for Gretchen.

Date: 2006-06-05 05:23 am (UTC)It was good to see you this weekend. My brain was going "Eh?" by the time I went home Sunday morning (I had no idea how late it was 'til I got in the truck and the clock lit up), so I'm sure I'll have questions at some point. First I have to get past the "But what it I mess it up?" stage with the ADAT... then I should be okay. :-)
I'll see y'all at Duckon this weekend! You must promise not to point and laugh at my guitar playing... it's been a _long_ time since I played a guitar outside the confines of my own house.
Oh yeah...

Date: 2006-06-05 04:05 pm (UTC)The main thing on the ADAT is setting up for punch-ins. When you're setting levels before recording, the "Auto Input" feature should be off. When you're going to do a punch-in, it should be on. After that, you're mostly cool if you press the right buttons for the punch. (Hold record, press play to start recording. Press play to stop recording.)
We'll look forward to seeing you at Duckon. I don't suppose I could ask you to take the duplicated tapes back to Barry and Sally?
