Change of Plans
Aug. 7th, 2022 09:24 pmI had all sorts of plans about what I was going to get done today. I got off to a good start by putting Gretchen's load of laundry in after lunch. I stopped briefly in the studio to read a few websites while I shaved, but got stopped by my email. I had gotten a new nibble on the old bed the previous day and today I got a message asking if they could pick it up today.
The plans went out the window at that point. The bed was covered with all sorts of things that needed to be moved so that the bed could go away. One of those things was the comforter that I had washed and had spread out on the bed to dry, but which had then been pinned by various other things before I could put it away. It was covered with cat hair, so it went over the side once I unpinned it so that I could wash it again.
I moved the medicine cabinet door that needed repair to some other safe flat surface in the house and Gretchen came upstairs to sort out the various things that were between us and the bed's departure. About the time that she had that sorted out, the couple arrived, checked out the bed, and decided that they should take it.
Strapped to the top of their Jeep. Well, it took two trips, but the strategy worked, the mattress departing first, everything else departing on the second trip in the early evening.
In between, I made a quick trip to Sam's Club, while Gretchen took the kids to Target for school supplies. When I got back, I collapsed in my chair (after putting the comforter in the wash again) and turned on the Cardinals vs. Yankees game, which had turned into quite a slugfest in the miserably hot weather in St. Louis that was remarkably like the miserably hot weather here.
The Cardinals eventually won the four hour and twenty-five minute game by a score of 12-9. The Brewers fell to the Reds, so at the 2/3 mark of their season, the Cardinals lead the division by two games.
This is a good thing.
And the old bed is gone.
Which is a *better* thing.
