The Taylor Thing
Apr. 12th, 2006 07:24 pmSo it went like this. We started out with five of us doing what's apparently called a "Nashville Poll". I'd call it Performers' Bardic, as each of us sang a song in rotation, then another. After that, three different duos played short sets. Then four of the original group got up and played three songs each as we went around the circle three times. Finally, a fellow asked if he could play and played three covers to fill out the evening.
It was interesting. I'll say that for an event which was billed as for singer/songwriters, there was a fair amount of traditional folk played by some -- but not most! -- of the performers. And my guitar style wasn't nearly up to the standard of most of the others. But the songs were generally well-received, although I made a botch of Silver by farbling the chords.
I played Apology, Promises, Silver, Love at First Sight, and Dance by Starlight.
They're planning to do this again in about three months. We'll see how it goes.

Date: 2006-04-13 04:56 am (UTC)As Gretchen observes, we've been running in an extremely fast and brain-damaged mode lately. :) Sleep should help.

Date: 2006-04-19 02:03 am (UTC)I've still got an eye on doing the funk/jazz-jam thing at Locals Only again; presently the odd open-mic and WM practice is the most I've been able to make happen.
