Hurricane Epsilon

Well, Epsilon has defied predictions and intensified to hurricane status, making it the sixth recorded instance of a December hurricane. There's a nice picture here on Jeff Masters' blog where he notes that there's about a 40% chance that we'll see Tropical Storm Zeta materialize next week in the Caribbean.

Either people/the media didn't remark on hurricanes as much as they do now, or we're getting them a lot more frequently these days...

There are more hurricanes recently. There appears to be a long (30 years or so) cycle that's peaking again now.
