Ruby managed to eat several things yesterday that appear to be disagreeing with her today. This includes a filched half bagel, some potato chips that Gretchen gifted her with when she was begging, and the spaghetti sauce that lingered on the inside of Gretchen's dinner bowl. All of this appears to have been just a bit too much for her puppy digestive tract.

Thus do we learn another valuable lesson. :)

Ignore the weirdo on your facebook page who says "never ever feed people food to dogs". Bullpucky.

However, multiple strange new things at once might not be the best idea. :-D

My guys get some of whatever I'm eating on a fairly regular basis. There's nothing wrong w/ giving dogs limited amounts of healthy "people food" and mine adore cheese and most vegetables (and obviously any kind of meat).

That said... I feed a high-quality kibble w/ no corn and no wheat, so I limit the amount of those things that the dogs get in treats, too. My guys have fairly bulletproof digestive systems, and have come through sudden changes of food (travelling and ran out, or suddenly unable to get my "normal" brand/formula, etc.) w/ minimal digestive distress, and I think that's probably partly because they _do_ eat things other than just their kibble, so their systems are accustomed to a variety of foods.

And my crew almost _always_ "pre-washes" my dinner dishes before they go in the dishwasher, but they only get the plate or the tidbits from my dinner after I'm finished eating and if there's been no begging.

Hopefully Ruby will feel better soon. Poopy puppies are never fun.

Count yourself lucky. When Willow, the American Water Spaniel, was a puppy, she ate the kitchen floor. Seriously.

The following day, projectile diarrhea startled the daylights out of her. Fortunately, she was in the backyard at the time. She all but levitated, twisted around in complete bewilderment, and had a clear "WTF was *that*?!?" expression on her face.

Fannish fame followed. Dan Steffan memorialized the floor-eating event for the next cover of Idea. An Australian fan sent Willow a square of Aussie vinyl flooring. She hadn't lost her fondness for the material, immediately gnawing on a corner when we showed it to her. Not wanting a repeat of the after-effects, we immediately removed the vinyl square from her reach. It was in the Willow Puppy Hall of Fame for the next decade and then some.
