It's All Happening At the Zoo

harperjen, Phil, Maddie, and little Katie are up visiting gundo, born_to_me, and Gabriel this weekend, as Jen is giving a house concert there on Sunday to celebrate the release of her album. (Yay!) I'm going to be playing along on four songs during the concert, so we needed to rehearse. When we established that an expedition to Brookfield Zoo was planned for today, I asked if we could accrete ourselves to it, as there is very little that our Katie would like more than spending time with Maddie. Gundo agreed, so it was off to Brookfield with our girls for the first time.

Teresa stayed home, being a bit under the weather, but the rest of us had a fine time romping around the zoo, seeing fewer animals than we might have under other circumstances, but enjoying all of the kid-related treats, including a final ride on the carousel. Then it was out to Joliet for dinner and practice, after which we bundled our two little girls back in the car and headed home.

By the time we got here, they were sound asleep. And although they were roused enough to walk up the stairs by themselves, asleep they are again.

And a good time was had by all.
