The weather was nice, so [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise and I headed north to Gurnee Mills to pick up new rugs for the bathroom, a new pair of slacks for me, and a particular type of Corningware casserole from the Corning Revere Outlet Store. We failed on the last, but ended up with a new set of Corelle dishes with ivy on them, along with a really nice saucepan to replace the Visions one with the peeling non-stick finish and a new set of Farberware cookware to replace the set I got when I went off to grad school *mumble* years ago.

In a few minutes, Sam is bringing his computer over and we're going to set it up behind my firewall and see if we can get it to behave itself, as it's running extremely badly when connecting to his ISP. Of course, all of the other computers will be turned off then. :)

I hooked up Sam's computer behind my firewall and we went in after whatever the problem was that was bollixing up his Internet connection at home.
Step by step, the longest march... )

Via [livejournal.com profile] allisona, who somehow only listed 9 songs of the top ten of her high school graduation year, I present the top 11 tunes of 1973:

1. Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round The Ole Oak Tree, Tony Orlando and Dawn
2. Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Jim Croce
3. Killing Me Softly With His Song, Roberta Flack
4. Let's Get It On, Marvin Gaye
5. My Love, Paul McCartney and Wings
6. Why Me, Kris Kristofferson
7. Crocodile Rock, Elton John
8. Will It Go Round In Circles, Billy Preston
9. You're So Vain, Carly Simon
10. Touch Me In The Morning, Diana Ross
11. The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia, Vicki Lawrence

Actually, that's not such a bad bunch of songs. :) (You get them by typing into Google your graduation year +top 100 songs. Pick the list of your choice.)

Further down the list, we find Daniel by Elton John, We're an American Band by Grand Funk Railroad, Loves Me Like a Rock by Paul Simon, Monster Mash by Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt Kickers, Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, Feelin' Stronger Every Day by Chicago, and one of my favorites at number 51, The Cover of the Rolling Stone by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.

Ok, I think I can live with that.
