Declare Victory and Pull Out

Instead of proceeding down the increasingly ugly path I was headed down, I've gone back to the original Formula One source and found the necessary incantations to get it to compile clean under VC++.NET 2003. If I'd known then what I know now, I could have figured all this out, but -- then again -- if I hadn't hacked on so much code, I wouldn't have known what the problems were.

I'm leaving for Christmas vacation now.

An old friend of mine from U of I, Jeff, had emergency surgery tonight. I understand he's awake and feeling better, which is good. No other details yet.
