Mostly Oblivious

I see the occasional report in electronic print, or on the TV, or even on the radio, but other than that, I have completely ignored this year's Olympics. Normally, I pay more attention, but this does not appear to be the year for it.

In general, I find the Winter Olympics more interesting.

(This is not meant to suggest that other people shouldn't enjoy themselves; it's just that my particular boat isn't being floated by this. In fact, it seems to be resting safely on the bottom of the channel.)

All that I'm noticing is some of the peripheral controversies. An athlete whom I know nothing about has dropped out for personal reasons, and some people are furious about her choice. It seems to me it's ultimately her decision to make.

It's easy enough to find highlights of interest on line or via apps if one really desires. I recommend the men's 800m swim from last night, watching the U.S. guy go from 5th to gold over the last 50 meters is wild.

I also want to check out Lydia Jacoby's bluegrass band, just because.

I'm sorry that MLB didn't let their players compete in the Olympics.
