Don't get me wrong - the text I quoted was justifying why I posted that as a news story, and was a direct response to someone who said it wasn't accurate because the head of PETA disclaimed the actions.

Since I didn't make the original post here, I feel much more free to say what I think: PETA is a dangerous group. Both as a front for actual terrorist groups that firebomb homes and businesses and much more importantly, a emotional rather than rational branch of society that exhibits very terrifying cult like tendencies along the lines of Scientology or certain radical anti-abortion groups. They are not only willing to lie to convince people they are right, they have the ring of truth because they have convinced themselves that their lies are right. They honestly believe that animals are at least equal and likely more important than humans, and that they exist in a fictional utopia where if all the animals in the shelters were released, they would all get along and things would be better. They gnash their teeth and flagellate their souls in a guilt over their species that can be classified as a mental disorder. Just as anorexics will fixate on their imperfections and starve themselves to death, PETA fixates on the imperfections with our relation to the animal kingdom so sharply that they would drag our entire species to oblivion in order to atone for those imperfections.

They are a pox upon our culture and I fervently pray that they remain a mild annoyance rather than grow into a terminal disease.

(How's that for opinion?)
