ROTK FTL

[livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise, [livejournal.com profile] whl (visiting from Mississippi), and I just watched all of the extended and new scenes in the extended edition of Return of the King. Many things make more sense now.

"Ah, so Faromir and Eowyn actually met before their last appearance making eyes at each other. Makes Eowyn seem much less shallow than she did momentarily there."

Yes, the added scenes add so much more to the story. The Wife and I watched the extended version on Christmas night. It was one of my presents to her, and she wasn't going to wait any longer.

"Ah. So *that's* what happened to Saruman! Although in the book, it happened a little differently."

I just wish we didn't misplace the booklet during the viewing. (It resulted in a minor tiff.)

Now to look for the Easter eggs.

They're in the same place as last time, except there's one on each of the two movie disks.

We watched our copy over Christmas break with my family. Some thoughts:

For me, the two Easter Eggs weren't up to the same quality as the ones on FOTR and TTT. Ah well.

Regarding the Houses of Healing/Faramir...yeah, OK, Eowyn and Faramir actually met before pairing off. I'm sorry, I still wanted a lot more from those scenes - I mean, crying out loud, she absolutely thinks Aragorn is the best thing since horses, he even heals her from death, and all she has to do is *look* at Faramir??? Not likely.

My long suffering husband heard me kvetch for 20 minutes after it was over and finally said,
"OK, you've waited a year, and to your taste, PJ *still* didn't get it right. Is that the problem?"

Trust the husband to get it right. ;-)

Anyway, Happy New Year to all, and to all a good night.
