I've been noticing that it may be time to adjust my contact lens prescription lately, so when I got a call from my optometrist wanting me to schedule an appointment, we made one for today.

I have one eye adjusted to prefer close vision, while the other is adjusted for farther distances. We dialed back the prescription two ticks on the close eye and that was an absolute disaster, as I could no longer see as far as my computer screen accurately with that eye. We've now backed it off one tick and it's still a bit weak, leaving me to wonder if the right choice would have been to leave the right eye alone and back the left eye off a tick.

I'll try the current combination tomorrow. If I don't like the way that it's working, then we'll try something else. It's possible that I'll end up back on the combination that I had previously.

We'll see. (I hope.)

I dropped by the optometrist today for my regular checkup. My eyes are all good, but my prescription has drifted a bit so that I am less nearsighted than I used to be, which is why I've had the miserable eyestrain at the computer with my old contacts for most of the year. I now have a new pair of contacts to try out, along with an alternate right contact to try as well. I won't know for sure how they're working until I have a chance to do some work for work when it's not on a day when they've dilated my pupils for the exam and *that* won't be until Tuesday, because I expect to do very little work on Monday due to the scheduled colonoscopy.

On the other hand, I think I finally found the hook I was looking for in our UI code, which is good. I have tweaked the code in the neighborhood to improve our ability to find these things in the future. I've also sent an email off to the folks responsible asking how they intend this to work with the new feature that's showing up shortly.

I expect to hear back from them (and ignore them) on Monday, because, well, colonoscopy. :)
