Of course, you don't have to be planning to plant a detectable forgery in order to create one. You merely have to be some sort of crazy person who is so convinced of the rightness of his cause (and that you're so much smarter than the rest of the world that doesn't see how right you are) that you don't bother to think about the little details of your story actually checking out.

I, personally, am fascinated by Burkett's story about how he burned the originals of these documents in a parking lot so that forensic evidence couldn't be used to trace them to their source. Everyone knows that real documents of this sort spontaneously combust, much like the tape that Mr. Phelps received on "Mission: Impossible", so he really didn't need to burn them himself. And the spontaneous combustion would be ever so much more believable.
