Yet Another Failure of Capitalism

While you might think that the Chicago Tribune would want to make money by supplying enough newspapers to meet demand, you would be wrong. There are no newspapers to be found.

They are supposedly printing another 200K copies of today's paper.

I thought I saw a note on their website about additional copies. If you want a copy for collecting purposes, I wasn't really planning on saving mine and can hold onto it for you.

Where does the possible constitutional convention in Illinois stand?

Friends elsewhere in the country are saying that this is pretty much the situation everywhere. Everyone's buying up history, in short.

Went down by a substantial margin.

No kidding. Heck, I might be interested in a hardcover edition.

We tried to hand out the corrected copies but most voters weren't interested.

At my polling place they had them on laminated cards that they handed to each voter. They wouldn't hand you your signature slip to take over to the ballot table unless you at least pretended to look at the card they handed you.

Since I was walking around downtown after lunch, and hadn't been able to get a couple Tribs for souvenirs, I figured I'd go up to the Tower, and buy some there.
There were lines of people, buying several to stacks of copies each, filling the lobby. Almost as soon as I got in line, they announced that they were out!!
(I did get a couple later at the Main St. newsstand in Evanston. The Trib had delivered a couple thousand extra copies, and they were walking out the door.)

fwiw, there was also a cluster of almost a dozen tv cameras in the shady corner of Bean Plaza in Millenium Park, with newscasters from all over the world commenting from what now seems to be our official emblem/backdrop.
