You remember that article I recommended about Curt Flood that you couldn't read because it was behind a paywall? I can now read it without being logged in to the Washington Post.

It stands out in my mind for two reasons. It was written not by a sportswriter but by politicians. And like my recent Facebook post about the death of Mira Furlan, it is mostly about principles, not professional skill. In Flood's case, it was mostly about his principled refusal to be traded to the Phillies, and how "his inspiring example has echoed down the years and helped shape the way today’s players are compensated and treated."
