We've each got an LG TV remote Android app for our phones. Ditto for Tivo. This works largely because the charging station for my phone is beside the TV room loveseat. If the new remote doesn't do what you need,something similar is likely available for Samsung sets.

It's highly useful when a cat just barfed on the remote & you need to zap a nearly-as-annoying commercial.
