I am at least half convinced that the reason that Oberweis uses glass bottles is to encourage people to return them and then buy something else at that time.
The worst case for me was just before I moved to San Diego the first time. I stopped in the Arlington Heights store to return a few bottles, but couldn't leave without getting a new bottle of egg nog (a personal addiction), which had be consumed and either given to someone else or returned before I left just a day or two later.
