The curse had been such a part of Boston culture that when a road sign on the city's busy Storrow Drive was vandalized from "Reverse Curve" to "Reverse The Curse," officials left it in place until after the Red Sox won the 2004 Series.

Lyle Lovett was a good LCMS boy, which I had just found out back when he first got famous, and Julia Roberts offhandedly suggested they get married: all the paparazzi were scratching their heads when he "snuck" her off to this little Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod church (the denomination that I married into). The Spousal Unit and I realized that he had taken her back to his home church to make it a real marriage; unfortunately, she called it off about a year later, and we just knew she'd permanently scarred him.
