According to this article in The Register, biometric protection for your fancy car has a downside. It's just bad when you're the key that the thief would like to take with him.

People really should have seen this coming. Hell, I wrote about it in a script for an aborted comic book project about 15 years ago and I'm sure I stole the idea from somewhere else.
